GBIC Salon: Sharing Economy and Case Studies in Vancouver

In March 2017, “Sharing Economy, Sharing Future” salon was successfully held at UBC, Vancouver. The salon was hosted by Dr. Jiawei Zhang, and the topic was on  sharing economy and case studies in Vancouver. More than 40 guests came to the event, and guests discussed sharing economy from a global perspective.

Dr. Jing Li gave a speech on sharing economy. During the speech, Dr. Jing Li introduced and analyzed sharing economy by studying the cases of Uber, Didi Chuxing (a Chinese ride sharing company) and Airbnb. Then she talked about the opportunity and challenge of sharing economy under a global vision. Then Mr. Shi shared his company’s sharing economy business model and explained how it operates based on this business model. Attendees discussed how sharing economy can benefit Canadian society, which fields in Canada have the potential to integrate sharing economy model and what needs to be considered when implementing sharing economy model.
