Dr. Zhang is a Research Fellow of GBIC. She is also an Assistant Professor of Accounting at the Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia. She joined the Sauder School of Business in 2009. Her current research interests include: 1) the role of Chief Financial Officers (CFOs) in financial reporting; 2) determinants of pension plan funding status and freezing decisions; 3) the disclosure and earnings quality of foreign firms listed in the U.S. stock exchanges; 4) shareholder activism and corporate governance; and 5) the role of information intermediaries, i.e., financial analysts, in the capital markets. Her research has been published in The Accounting Review, Review of Accounting Studies, and Contemporary Accounting Research. Her research was mentioned in publications such as Harvard Business Review, Business Week, Forbes, The Times of India, among others.
Dr. Zhang received her bachelor degree in Business Administration from Peking University in China (2000), her MBA from University of Utah (2004), and her PhD from Foster School of Business at the University of Washington (2009).
