Following successful forums co-organized by GBIC and Lehoo Media, we are going to organize another free public seminar.

Humanbeings spend about one third of their lives sleeping. Sleeping is not an idletime, as often assumed, but a critical opportunity for our body (in particularour brain) to perform “house cleaning” tasks such as getting rid oftoxins, strengthening memories, and re-organizing and integrating new and oldinformation. This increases creativity and problem solving.

However, sleep disorders affect 40% of adult Canadians accordingto a study conducted by Université Laval researchers.  The inability to sleep well is a commonsymptom of many chronic illnesses. The cumulative long-term effects of sleeploss and sleep disorders have been associated with a wide range of deleterioushealth consequences including an increased risk of hypertension, diabetes, obesity, depression, heart attack, and stroke.

We will invite academic professors, health professionals, and scientists to shareknowledge on myths of sleep – slow wave sleep, traditional approaches for SWS (wavestimulation), pharmacological approaches(serotonin) and novel approaches-negative ion induced electric filed and serotonin. You are cordially welcomedto join this informative forum at the UBC campus.
