Bo Chen

Research Fellow

Dr. Chen is a Research Fellow of GBIC. He is also an Associate Professor at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE). He obtained a BA (Economics with Honours) and an MA (Financial Economics) degrees from Huazhong University of Science &Technology, MA (Economics) from York University and a PhD (Economics) from Simon Fraser University. Currently he is the Vice Chairman of the Department of World Economy and Trade, School of International Business Administration, Secretary-General at the Research Institute on Shanghai Free Trade Zone, research associate at Asia Pacific Foundation and the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. He is a research consultant at Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC) – a core economic forum of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). He is also a PhD supervisor. Dr. Chen’s main research areas are international trade, Chinese economy and international economic cooperation.

In the five years since he joined SUFE, Dr. Chen has published over 20 journal articles in Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) and top domestic journals. He is well-versed in China’s macroeconomic reforms, free trade areas and “One Belt, One Road”. His comments and views have appeared in domestic and foreign mainstream media such as China CommentPeople’s Daily, 21st Century Business Herald, China Business NewsXinhua News Agencypeople.com.cn, Lianhe Zaobaothe EconomistWall Street Journal, and he has been interviewed repeatedly by CBN, CCTV Financial, CCTV English, Phoenix TV, BBC and other television stations.
